ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The theme of this conference is “The Future of Public Health in Asia”. We live in a time of rapid changes with ageing populations, increasing globalization, shifting lifestyle patterns, and an impact of information technology on many aspects of life. These developments present both challenges and opportunities, and will require a pro-active public health community to help shape the future. Some of the topics that participants can look forward to include:

• How ageing of many Asian populations can affect public health and how this can be addressed by public health policies.

• How technology such as Artificial Intelligence is accelerating the development of “Precision Public Health” and its potential to improve health at the population and individual level.

• How to address re-emergence of infectious diseases with a focus on vaccine preventable diseases and ending HIV transmission.

• New approaches to improving lifestyle behaviours and medication adherence for the prevention and management of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, including the use of nudges for behavioural change.

• The value of community engagement in the development and conduct of research and interventions to improve population health.

• Occupational health and safety as a priority as the lines between work, life and leisure blur, as our work spans increase, and as our workforce ages.

Join fellow academics, practitioners, policymakers, clinicians and students for the 3rd Singapore International Public Health Conference and the 15th Public Health and Occupational Medicine Conference to discuss how we can address these future challenges. Our pre-conference workshops on 2nd September 2020 also provide hands-on training in health technology assessment and programme evaluation.

We look forward to your participation at the conference.
